At Rothy’s, sustainability is at the heart of all we do. We have big goals to achieve circular production, which includes keeping Rothy’s out of landfills. Now, when your Rothy’s have reached the end, they’ll be recycled into something new.
Keeping Rothy's out of the landfill no matter what.
We design our products for durability and longevity. So if you're ready to
part with a pair of Rothy's that are still in great shape, finding them a new
home through reselling, gifting or donating is always an option.
But when a pair of Rothy's has reached the end of its life and are no longer
wearable, Rothy's Recycling prevents them from ending up in a landfill. By
recycling and repurposing materials, we're helping to close the loop.
Recycling in review.
We send your well-loved Rothy’s to our disassembly partners who take the shoe apart and separate it into the upper, insole and outsole. Once the materials are separated, they’re either shredded or baled and shipped to our recycling partners.
Intentional materials.
The uppers, made from our signature thread, can be recycled again into thread. The foam insoles and midsoles are ground and can be used as carpet backing or insulation. The TPU or rubber outsoles are ground and can be used in athletic flooring.
Innovations in recycling.
Over time, we'll continue to improve and iterate on these recycling processes as we work toward our circularity goals—like using twice-recycled thread in our products in the future.
