Placing an Order

What methods of payment do you accept?

All major credit cards, plus PayPal, Apple Pay and Rothy’s Gift Cards. We can only accept one form of payment per order with the exception of adding a Rothy’s Gift Card as a form of partial payment.

Will I be charged sales tax?

Sales tax will apply to orders shipped to California addresses only.

What if I need to change my order?

Because we do not store credit card information, we cannot process changes after an order is placed. However, if you wish to remove an item and it has been less than 30 minutes since your order was placed, you can contact help@rothys.com and we will attempt to remove the item before it is processed. If you wish to add additional items, please place a new order. Free standard shipping applies to all orders.

What if I need to cancel my order?

If it has been less than 30 minutes since your order was placed, you can contact help@rothys.com to request a cancellation. We will do our best to cancel the order but cannot guarantee it. If the 30-minute cancellation timeframe has been exceeded, you will be able to return your order once it’s received at our warehouse for a full refund.

Why am I charged before my order has shipped?

Our processing center has a short payment processing window. To avoid any inconvenience to our customers, we process payments right when an order is placed to avoid missing the window and having to contact customers to resubmit their orders.

I ordered a pair of Rothy’s via PreOrder. What does this mean?

Because Rothy’s sell out quickly, we offer a preorder service for customers who wish to reserve a style while it is in the process of being restocked. Your payment will be processed at the time the order is placed and your shoes will be shipped to you as soon as they are back in stock. The estimated ship date for your pre-ordered Rothy’s will appear in your shopping cart and in your shipping confirmation.

Can I get Rothy’s gift wrapped?

We do not offer gift wrapping currently, however Rothy’s do make an exceptional gift and arrive in a compact, low-waste box that’s easy to wrap and tucks neatly into a small to medium-size gift bag. A simple but chic touch (it’s kind of a running theme around here).

Order Status

What is the status of my order?

For the most up to date information on your order and to track the shipping of your order, you can create an account at checkout and log in to your account to check your status whenever you like (if your excitement has you checking your status every hour, we completely understand). If you placed an order without creating an account, contact us at help@rothys.com and we’ll email your order status to you.

Where does Rothy’s ship?

We provide shipping to all 50 US states and love knowing that our versatile style translates beautifully in every direction.

Does Rothy’s ship internationally?

Currently we ship within the United States only, though we are excited about adding international shipping in the near future. To stay up-to-date on Rothy’s news and any changes in our shipping policy, you can subscribe to our email newsletter here.

How much does shipping cost?

We offer free standard shipping to all 50 US States. We thought “free” had a nice ring to it.

When will I receive my order?

Rothy's ships via USPS and UPS. Tracking information for each order will be included in your Shipping Confirmation email.

Please note, Preorder items will only ship once they become available. Occasionally, we split orders into multiple shipments. If this occurs, you’ll be notified and receive a tracking number for each shipment. The expected ship date for your order is noted at Checkout and in your Order Confirmation.

Can my order be expedited?

You can select 2-Day or Overnight Shipping at Checkout. Orders placed after 12:00pm PST Monday through Friday and orders placed on Saturday and Sunday will be processed the following business day. Orders that have already been submitted cannot be expedited

What if I need to change my shipping address?

Contact help@rothys.com and we will do our best to process your address change request if it is within 30 minutes of placing your order. Rothy’s Help Desk (help@rothys.com) is open Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm PST.

Fit and Sizing

What size should I order?

Rothy's run true to size. We recommend that you order the size you most often wear in flats. If your foot is wider than a B Width, we suggest ordering a half size larger.

Do Rothy’s have arch support?

Rothy's are flat with a removable insole that is perfect for adding your own arch supports or custom orthotics.

Do Rothy’s fit wide feet?

We have many happy customers with wider feet. Our 3D knit construction has the right amount of give and does not cut into your foot. If your foot is wider than a B Width, we recommend ordering a half size larger.

Do Rothy’s fit narrow feet?

We have many happy customers with narrow feet. Our 3D knit construction hugs the foot so that it won’t shift and slip.

I have bunions, will Rothy’s work for me?

We have received lots of positive feedback from bunion sufferers. We do recommend ordering a half size larger if your foot is wider than a B Width.

Will Rothy’s cut into my foot or give me blisters?

Our special fiber and 3D knit construction create a soft and flexible upper designed to treat your feet to blister-free comfort. We do not guarantee zero blisters, because if the shoes fit incorrectly they could cause blisters.

Do Rothy’s Stretch?

Rothy's maintain their softly snug fit with a little light stretching occurring over time. From your first wear to your 50th, we’re designed to feel easygoing and supportive at the same time (kind of like the perfect date).

Do you plan to add smaller and larger sizes?

Yes. We are working on expanding our size selection and hope to accommodate more happy Rothy’s customers very soon. To stay updated on sizing announcements and other exciting Rothy’s news, you can subscribe to our email newsletter in the footer of our website.

I ordered another pair in a different color and the fit is not the same as my original Rothy’s. Why is that?

We are sorry about the inconsistency in the fit of your Rothy's. Like with jeans, there can be slight variations in fit from pair to pair. We aim for the utmost consistency, so any variation will be ever so slight.

Can I expect the same fit from The Point and The Flat?

Most Rothy’s wearers take the same size in both styles. Some wearers have ordered one size up or down but, generally, sizing is consistent from style to style. We always offer free, easy returns just in case!

Promotions + Special Pricing

Does Rothy’s have special promotions?

Our Give $20, Get $20 Refer-a-Friend program (find out more here), is a great way for you and your friends to save. You can also subscribe to our email newsletter in the footer of our website to get alerts about new arrivals and the occasional surprise sample sale.

Does Rothy’s offer coupons or rebates?

As a direct-to-consumer company, we are pleased to be able to cut out licensing and distribution fees and keep our prices as accessible as possible. We think every woman should own more than one pair of Rothy’s...that’s our incentive to keep our price on par with a pair of running shoes.

Returns + Exchanges

What is the Rothy’s return policy?

Unworn shoes may be returned within 30 days of purchase. We are pleased to offer free return shipping and full refunds on all timely returns of unworn merchandise. Worn, washed and altered shoes cannot be returned (we encourage you to test drive your Rothy’s on a carpeted surface to avoid any wear when trying them on). If worn, washed, and altered shoes are returned the order will not be refunded and you will be liable for the cost of the return shipping label. The shoes will be recycled with our partner plus foam. Additionally, gift items such as Rothy’s Gift Cards and gifts with purchase are not returnable, along with any promotional and final sale items.

How can I return my order?

Follow these simple steps and please take note of our 30-Day Return Policy, effective from the date of purchase.

  1. Visit our Returns page
  2. Enter your email and click “Start a Return”
  3. Check your email and follow authorization instructions
  4. Select the item(s) that you wish to return
  5. Click “Confirm Return and Refund.”
  6. Download and print the USPS shipping label
  7. Repack your items and packing list in the original packaging
  8. Drop off at the nearest US Post Office or Approved Postal Provider
  9. Allow three weeks for your refund—you will receive an email when your return is received and your refund has been processed

How can I exchange my order?

Exchanges can only be made by returning your current order and placing a new order.

How can I return an order that was a gift?

Contact help@rothys.com and we will be happy to process your return in exchange for a Rothy’s Gift Card. Please include the original order number, shoes you are returning, reason for return, and shipping address.

My older Rothy’s are ready to be retired. What should I do with them?

You can recycle your shoes through our partner, PlusFoam. Visit plusfoam.com and click on Recycle a Product to get started. You can read more about our recycling program here.

About the Company

What’s in the name Rothy’s?

Our founders are Roth Martin and Stephen Hawthornthwaite or “Hawthy.” Marry the two names together and Rothy’s is born.

Where do I direct press or marketing inquiries?

Are Rothy’s sold in any physical stores?

Although some day we may have a super chic flagship store in an infinitely cool setting, Rothy's are currently sold online only. We always offer free shipping and returns to make the process seamless.

Does Rothy’s do pop-up shops and events?

How are Rothy’s priced?

Not your typical footwear, each pair of Rothy’s is hand fabricated of the highest quality recycled materials using state-of-the-art 3D knit technology. We aimed to be so much more than your average shoe and we have delivered with unrivaled comfort, style and wardrobe versatility. When you try on a pair of Rothy’s, the difference is instantly recognizable.

About the Shoes

What are Rothy’s made of?

Our yarn fiber is made from post consumer waste certified PET plastic water bottles. The US consumes 1,500 water bottles each second and, sadly, over 40 billion each year end up in landfills. First the bottles are stripped of their caps and labels, and steam sterilized. Next, they are chipped into flakes and fused into filament fiber to make our yarn that is knitted three dimensionally, heat set and hand assembled. Finally, a proprietary moisture wicking agent treats the yarn so that your feet stay cool, dry and comfortable.

What makes seamless construction special?

Our proprietary 3D knitting process is specially designed to reduce waste. From fabric pattern surplus to waste from irregularities and defects, we have arrived at a patent-pending seamless construction that successfully reduces unwanted, unusable excess. What remains is pure comfort, void of any stiff materials, hard edges or uncomfortable seams.

How are Rothy’s recycled and recyclable? (or better to ask, how aren’t we?)

  • Rothy’s uppers are knit using 100% recycled fiber made from plastic water bottles
  • Our insoles are also made from 100% recycled fiber made from plastic water bottles and recycled recyclable closed cell foam.
  • Our outsoles are made from environmentally-friendly, carbon-free rubber.
  • Our packaging is 100% recyclable.

Where are Rothy’s made?

Our shoe designs and prototypes are created in San Francisco, California. Hand construction takes place in our own dedicated manufacturing facility in Nacheng, Guangdong Provence, China. We are proud to employ leading fabricators and engineers, and to offer superior working conditions and fair wages to all team members, here in the U.S. and abroad.

Are Rothy’s vegan?

We are proud to be able to say we’re 100% vegan. Our animal friends (and our planet) are far too precious.

Are Rothy’s latex free?

No latex lying around here (or anywhere in our shoes for that matter).

How do I care for my Rothy’s?

Our shoes are durably constructed to withstand machine washing. Remove the insoles prior to washing (the insoles can be hand washed on occasion). Wash your shoes on gentle cycle on a cold setting with mild detergent and no bleach. Allow to air dry. Do not tumble dry. Rothy's should be washed in a load by themselves.

What if I get my Rothy’s wet?

The same material and construction that make us machine washable, also make us highly breathable and fast drying. We’re designed to wick moisture away from your feet so they stay dry and comfy. Hot steamy days and rain-filled potholes? Bring them on!

Is the knit material hard since it’s made from recycled water bottles?

Rothy’s are extremely soft, flexible and blister-free. Our fibers are specially knit to feel like silken clouds of happiness for your feet.

How much do Rothy’s weigh?

Lighter than a pair of flip-flops, Rothy’s are the perfect travel shoe. A pair weighs in at around 9 ounces. Sometimes we forget we even have them on.

What is the sole made of?

Our soles are made of environmentally-friendly, recycled carbon-free rubber.

What is the insole made of?

Just like our uppers, our insoles are made of recycled water bottles and recyclable closed cell foam.

Why is a blue dust bag no longer included in my order?

To continue our efforts to reduce waste and improve our sustainability, we eliminated the dust bag in favor of more streamlined packaging.

Gift Cards

What are my Gift Card options?

You can give the gift of Rothy’s in digital form delivered via email or in physical plastic form, enclosed in a stylish gift packaging and delivered in the mail. Both can be purchased at Rothy’s.com by clicking here or on the Give Rothy’s link at the bottom of our homepage. Gift values of $50, $125 and $145 are available and can be added to Your Cart and purchased just like merchandise.

How do I send a Gift Card?

After following the steps above, you have two options for sending a Gift Card. A digital Gift Card will be emailed directly to you, and can be forwarded to the giftee or printed and hand delivered. Instructions on how to redeem the gift will be included in the email.

The plastic Gift Card is delivered via USPS to the shipping address specified during checkout. You have the option of sending it directly to the giftee or to yourself to be hand delivered. You can personalize your gift with a special message in the Order Notes box. Gift Cards are non-refundable.

How do I redeem my Gift Card?

After your selected style is added to Your Cart and you are selecting Payment Method in Checkout, click on the Gift Card or Discount Code box and type in your Gift Card code found on the back of your card. Click Apply and your credit will automatically be applied to your order.

How do I check my Gift Card balance?
