What goes into our thread?

What goes into our thread?

From bottle to beautiful.

At Rothy’s, we’ve repurposed millions of water bottles as of 2020, and turned them into beautiful, sustainable eco friendly shoes. So how do water bottles become washable, wear-everywhere styles? We’re glad you asked.

Plastic is made perfect in 3 sustainable steps:

  1. Be flakey: single-use plastic bottles are chipped into little flakes.

  1. Under pressure: those tiny flakes are then pressed into tiny pellets.

  1. Thread cred: finally, pellets are made into spools of our signature thread, dyed and then 3D-knitted into every pair of Rothy’s.

There you have it. Our innovative 3D knitting process and signature thread come together to create stylish shoes that feel good on you and the planet.

From bags made with marine plastic to shoes crafted from water bottles, we’re all about transforming eco-friendly materials into effortless essentials—and we’ve no plans on stopping.
