Here at Rothy’s, we’re committed to improving everything we make. That’s why we’ve made a few updates to two of our most loved bag styles—The Essential Pouch (now renamed The Wristlet) and The Essential Tote.
So what’s new?
For The Wristlet, we dropped the magnets and lining to keep things sleek and light. It also comes with a handy detachable wrist strap so you can clip it right into The Lightweight Tote, wrap it around the handles of any bag or carry it as a clutch. Either way, you can’t go wrong with this nifty number.
We removed the magnets on The Essential Tote, for a more comfortable feel. Plus, we secured the base insert so your chapstick, phone, keys and more won't get caught underneath. After all, your essentials should always be easy to find.
And now for the best part—both of these bag styles come in our best-selling colors and fresh new shades.
We sat down with Manon, our accessories designer from London, to chat about these new improvements.
How do you use The Wristlet?
The Wristlet is one of our most versatile bags. It has a detachable wrist strap so that you can easily hook it onto the handles of your favorite bag, clip into The Tote for added organization and use it as a clutch. How fun is that?
Can you tell us why we decided to move away from magnets?
Removing the magnets on The Wristlet was all about streamlining the look and making it more versatile. Once we made that decision, doing away with the magnets on The Essential Tote was a no-brainer.
What is the difference between The Essential Tote and The Tote?
I love using The Essential Tote for work and travel. The zipper and inside pockets are perfect for keeping my things safe, and I can always fit everything I need—and trust me, I’m a heavy packer.
The Lightweight Tote is my go-to bag for everything on the go. I love using it for picnics, beach days and errands. My favorite part is the key leash—I save so much time when I don’t have to dig for my house keys!

What are you carrying in your bag today?
The real question is what am I not carrying in my bag? I’ll spare you all the little things—but a few of my main essentials are my laptop, phone, keys and my cardigan (just in case it gets cold!).
Where was the last place you took your Essential Tote?
I brought my Essential Tote on a weekend trip to Milan. It’s my go-to for a quick getaway!
New bags just launched. Which color are you loving lately?
I’ve been loving The Essential Tote in Canyon Poppy. For this particular color, we took inspiration from one of our previous best-selling shades—Desert Sand. I also love how much it reminds me of Belgian linen.
