Washing 101

Wondering how to wash your Rothy’s shoes and bags? You’ve come to the right place. All of our styles are machine washable—so they stay looking as good as new. Here are some tips to keep in mind for laundry day.

Flats, Sneakers & Most Shoes

  • Slip out insoles. Toss insoles and shoes in the wash with cold water. 
  • If your shoes have ties or laces, remove them before throwing in the wash. 
  • Air dry. No heat, please.
  • Wear again and again.

Sandals

  • Toss shoes in the wash with cold water. 
  • Air dry. No heat, please.
  • Wear again and again.

The Espadrille

  • Remove ankle ties and insoles. Toss shoes, ties and insoles in the wash with cold water. 
  • Air dry. No heat, please.
  • Please note, due to its combination of delicate fibers, the color vibrancy of The Espadrille may slightly fade with each wash.
  • The Espadrille will tighten when washed. Don’t worry, it’s natural—they will quickly expand again upon wearing.

Shoes with Natural Hemp, Merino Wool & Water-Resistant Treatment

  • Slip out insoles. Toss shoes in the wash with cold water. 
  • Air dry. No heat, please. We suggest using a shoe tree when drying hemp and wool shoes to preserve their shape. 
  • If shoes are made with hemp: Please note, due to its combination of delicate fibers, the color vibrancy of this shoe may slightly fade with each wash. 
  • If shoes are made with merino wool and water-resistant treatment: Please note, the water-resistant treatment will fade with each wash. We recommend spot cleaning these styles to preserve their treatment.

Bags & Accessories

  • Toss bag or accessory in the wash with cold water. 
  • Air dry. No heat, please.
  • Use again and again.
  • If your accessory is made with hemp: Please note, due to its combination of delicate fibers, the color vibrancy of the accessory may slightly fade with each wash.
