Simply put, summertime has us craving cocktails. The days are longer, the temperatures are hotter, and all we want to do is sit in the sun with a fresh cocktail in hand. This summer, we highly recommend skipping out of work a little early and soaking up as much sun—and as many cocktails!—as you can. Since we know you’re probably in vacation mode, we thought we’d do the heavy lifting for you and compile a list of a few of our favorite recipes. All you have to do is enjoy!
Because summer calls for all things watermelon, try your hand at this spicy watermelon margarita from Cookie + Kate. It’s got the perfect kick for a summer night, but if your spice tolerance is low, just leave out the jalapeño and chili powder for a classic watermelon margarita that definitely won’t disappoint. To make sure it’s truly photo-worthy, add a little watermelon wedge for garnish.
If you’re craving an old classic, look no further than Becky Hardin’s grapefruit salty dog. It’s refreshing with a tart kick, and it only takes five minutes and four easy steps per serving. It’s just what you need on those lazy summer afternoons when you don’t necessarily feel like lifting a finger.
Even though our days of lemonade stands are over, we still can’t get enough of this strawberry basil (adult) lemonade. The hardest decision you’ll have to make is adding vodka or gin. It’s light enough for the hottest of days, and it’s sure to make you feel like a kid again. And if you really want to commit to recreating some childhood favorites, check out this boozy popsicle from Minimalist Baker. We get it. It’s not necessarily a cocktail. But just go with it. You can thank us later.
